Stefan Morgan Dunn is an experienced Family Trauma Therapist with a background in youth, adult and group therapy who specializes in addiction issues. Mr. Dunn’s training, education, and experience in psychology has provided him with a strong background in both individual and group therapy,
He is adept with assessment, intervention, treatment, counseling, and many therapeutic approaches including motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Centered Therapy and Family Therapeutic Mediation and has extensive experience in crisis and emergency situations. He has worked as a facilitator for over 16 years working with child and family services, treatment centers, recovery houses, schools, and international mediation firms. His background has included counseling in cases of substance abuse, suicide, violent crimes, and parental abuse.
He is also familiar with dysfunctional family issues, sexual harassment, learning disabilities, child development, anxiety, stress, and depression. Mr. Dunn is proficient in developing and implementing client centered case plans that are designed towards relapse prevention.
Throughout his training and employment he has consistently provided his clients with the highest possible quality of care and treatment possible, regardless of the situation. Just prior to coming to Ahealo forum, Stefan was a Crisis Management Specialist for Homewood Health in Alberta.
His primary work was debriefing front line Hospital, University and Fire department Staff. Offering Cognitive Behavioral Therapeutic counselling involving mental health issues including; family and relationship issues, conflicts, substance abuse, trauma, depression, anger management, life transitions, personal issues and other physical, social and emotional problems.
Stefan has more than 7 years of experience in a collaborative approach with psychology, Mediation and addiction and 12 years of facilitation, family counseling and mediation specializing in addiction issues.
Selected Research & Contributions:
• Implemented an innovative Therapeutic program for the Canadian Centre for Community and Family Mediation, 7 first nation reserves in Saskatchewan, Canada and the Tribal council of Saskatchewan, Canada. Resulted in a more effective approach successfully supporting over 50 clients with Therapeutic Family Mediation improving relationships and decreasing the number of children removed from home due to instability.
• Delivered research at the Turning Point treatment Centre in Smith’s Parish, Bermuda studying “The Effects of Family Functioning with Abstinence Following a Family Member's Treatment for Substance Abuse” finding the powerful influence of family relationships on abstinence.
• Graduated from University of Liverpool with a master’s in Applied Psychology specializing in Mental Health.
